You've finally made that long-awaited purchase, which will allow you to watch your favourite TV shows and the latest films in all their glory. Now it's time to install that big screen. But isn't it safer to mount the TV on the wall? And is it even possible to mount this gigantic screen on the wall? What is the ideal viewing height and distance? You can find answers to all of these questions here.
The answer to this is yes, you can mount your XL TV on the wall. Safety is paramount, of course. That's why it is always important to check whether the TV mount used is TÜV certified. The weight of your TV is also important when choosing a TV mount.
Vogel's mounts are TÜV certified and are tested at three times the maximum weight indicated.
This means that if our packaging reads "max. 50 kg", for example, you can assume that the mount has been tested at 3 x 50 kg (150 kg)! That's one of the reasons why we at Vogel's offer a lifetime guarantee on virtually all of our TV mounts.
Please note: also check the wall on which you wish to mount your TV in advance. If it is a stud wall and you want to mount your TV on a full motion mount, you can also use a stud adapter (THIN 595). If you would like to find out more about mounting on stud walls, please take a look at this information.
Knowing the weight of your TV is important. To find out, take a look at your TV's specifications. OLED TVs are relatively lightweight (about 25 kg). Vogel’s has specific TV mounts for these screens. Other large TVs often weigh more than 25 kg. For these models, Vogel's offers full motion (TURN) or flat (FLAT) against the wall mounts for TVs with a maximum weight of 80kg!
Quick fact.... Large or XL TVs often have screens starting from 65 inches. This can include 72-inch, 75-inch, 77-inch, 82-inch and up to 100-inch TVs.
The further away from your TV you are, the more difficult it may be to see subtitles or small details. However, if you are too close to a large screen, the details can disappear from the corner of your eye. The image below gives an idea of the ideal viewing distance:
What is the ideal height for a 75-inch, 82-inch or 100-inch TV screen? The good news is that the height is fairly easy to determine. Click here for more information on the ideal height.
Do you want to be able to turn your large TV towards you? If you always want to have a great view of your TV from different places in your room, choose a full motion TV mount (TURN). If you want your TV to rest flat against the wall like a painting, the best choice is a fixed or flat TV mount (FLAT). If you would prefer to move your TV around in your room, take a look at this beautiful wooden TV floor stand (Vogel's NEXT OP2).
